While many projects are leveraging BIM to more efficiently develop the architectural design for a building, the wider adoption of modeling (e.g., energy models, daylighting models, and cost models) directly from the architectural design remains limited, especially in small and medium size retrofit projects. This Guide focuses on the identification of model uses that allow analysis tools to be integrated into the delivery process. The BIM Guide for Energy Retrofit Projects clearly documents an approach to plan for the integration of Building Information Modeling, leveraging simulation and analysis tools, throughout the design phase of an energy retrofit project.
