The Navy Yard Electric Utility (TNYEU) is very interested in making energy efficiency retrofits easier for TNY’s building owners and tenants to implement, and thus support its energy reduction goal. However, many of the owners and tenants, in spite of their strong interest in reducing energy costs, lack access to capital or are using their balance sheet to support and grow their businesses. Also, for many of the potential customers of an OBF program, there is a desire to keep their monthly energy bills cost-neutral, and preferably lower. Establishing an OBF program that promotes greater investment in energy reduction and ties the payments to the building meter has been deemed an attractive financing solution. This project has been designed to build out an OBF program that will be appealing to the building owners and tenants at TNY.
